Crazy for Music

Nathan Edwards’ life revolves around music. Edwards plays the snare drum for the Roarin’ Blue Band and also plays drumset for the Jazz Band. He also participates in the Percussion One Ensemble program co-directed by Tomball Memorial’s Chris King and world renowned percussion instructor Lamar Burkhalter.

“We practice from 6-9 p.m. at the Cy-Fair Lonestar College every Thursday. We recently performed at the Meineke Car Care Bowl of Texas when Texas A&M University played Northwestern University,” said Edwards.

He recently tried out for the 40-4A Region Band where he competed against juniors and seniors. He was one chair place away from making the band.

“I’m always listening to music,” said Edwards. “My favorite bands are A Day To Remember, We Came As Roman’s, Abandon All Ships and I See Stars.”

Nathan also enjoys skateboarding and playing air soft on the weekends and after school with friends.

“Nathan’s always drumming, whether he is playing snare or playing drumset for Jazz Band,” said Alex Waterman.

“I’m hoping to go to the University Of Texas at Austin and play on their band’s drumline in college,” said Edwards.

Though Nathan is very involved in music, he doesn’t plan to have a career in music. “I’m hoping to have a career in architecture just like my uncle.”
