In their last District 14-6A game of the season, the varsity football played a hard-fought game against the Cy Ranch Mustangs, who won 35-14. The Wildcats finished with an 8-2 record overall and will play the Vandegrift Vipers on Friday, Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. in Austin.
The first quarter began with the Mustangs scoring an eight-yard touchdown, putting the game at 7-o for Ranch.
Senior Jorden Gidrey leveled the score with a one-yard rushing touchdown in the second quarter, but the Mustangs quickly rebounded with a 20-yard touchdown to end the first half at 14-7 for the home team.
Cy Ranch scored two rushing touchdowns, 34 yards and 76 yards, respectively, ending the third quarter at 28-7.
The Mustangs had a pick-six in the fourth quarter, bringing their tally up to 35-7. With two minutes left in the game, Gidrey scored a 15-yard rushing touchdown of the night and putting the scoreboard at 35-14.
