On Friday, October 17th, both Tomball Memorial High School and Tomball High School celebrated in the 45th annual Patriotic Show– much anticipated event that serves as a way for a community to pay tribute to the veterans that helped pave the way for the country’s future.
The focal point of the show is the football game played between Tomball Memorial and Tomball High, displaying the friendly rivalry between the schools. However, the football game is also accompanied by a half-time show performed by both schools, as well as a fireworks show and a skydiving performance.
Zoey Gonzales, senior, a longtime fan of the Patriotic Show, was excited about attending her last show as a senior. “I’ve been going to the Patriotic Game since before it was held at the stadium, and I think it’s worth it to go every time for the spectacle,” Gonzales said.
During half-time, senior Jenna Luu joined the rest of the Choir in singing, “God Bless America,” originally written by Irving Berlin. “Singing in the Patriotic Game was fun. Everyone did amazing, and I’m truly going to miss this once I graduate,” Luu said. This bittersweet sentiment is shared by many seniors who attended and performed in the show

Keeping with tradition, the Silver Stars took center field and introduced themselves before the start of the game. Among them, Sydney Morrison, senior and captain of the Silver Stars, performs at her last Patriotic Show. “Performing was kind of a full circle moment for me because we have been doing the same show since my freshman year; now doing it as a senior made me both happy and sad,” Morrison said.

Senior Daniel Gilbert reflects on the time he had during his last Patriotic Show. “I played my best the whole game and gave 100% throughout the whole game, and even though we didn’t win, I know I played my best,” Gilbert said.
Even though it was not the outcome the Wildcats hoped for, they still took the field with pride and still dominated Magnolia West the following week.
