On Saturday, the two-time State Champion Silver Stars competed in the State Competition located at Cypress Ranch High School. The Stars placed second in the previous state competition and were determined to reclaim the title of State Champion. They competed in categories such as Gameday, Pom, Jazz, and Lyrical. The teams officers also competed in the categories- Hip Hop, Contemporary, Lyrical, and Jazz.

The Silver Stars competed in two competitions prior to winning it all at Clear Springs. Their other previous competition was held in Orlando, Florida. They competed in many categories, but their Gameday Dance gained them the title of National Champs. They danced with all their hearts in each one of those categories, and it all paid off. They won their third State Championship and were once again in the spotlight of all Texas Drill Teams.

“I felt so amazing to know that all the work paid off, before anything I felt confident in the team and how far we could go,” senior Kaitlyn Osterhout said. Osterhout was a member of the Stars for all four years of high school. While she never became an officer, she always was someone that could be relied on for help and guidance.

“I was super nervous, but at the same time I so excited. It made me so happy that everything we did this season came with this final reward,” sophomore Tatum LaRue said. LaRue danced with the Stars for both years that she attended high school, following in her sister’s footsteps who was previously a Silver Star.

“It was so ecstatic, through all the hard work and long practices; it really paid off,” freshman Josie O’Neal said. O’Neal joined the team this year and fully embraced every aspect of it. She hopes to become a dance officer and help grow the team even more.

The Stars have two competitions remaining in their season. One is being held this week at Katy Tompkins High School for their UIL competition. Their other event is another National Competition in Galveston on March 22-24. The Stars have solidified themselves as one of the Top Teams not just in the State, but in the Nation, and they are not slowing down anytime soon.
