Best+Night+of+the+Season

On Tuesday March 5th, the Wildcats hosted their senior night and won their first game of district play.

Along with their families, senior Wildcats were celebrated and given praise for their accomplishments throughout their careers in the soccer program. Families of seniors like Logan Young and Ariana Acevez walked through a tunnel of their teammates and faced the Wildcat fans to receive praise and recognition. Along with a family picture, the game announcer shared brief future plans for seniors and special messages to their families.

“For me, senior night encapsulates what we seniors have done for the program. I’m excited to show my family and everyone watching what me and my team have built.” senior Logan Young said.

After reflecting on their last year as Wildcats, the players come to thank their families and fans for all the support they have received. To many, soccer has been a gateway to finding community, a passion, and much more.

“Senior night is special for me because it gives seniors a chance to show this school what we have accomplished throughout our time in the program. This is something that happens once in a lifetime and so it will be very special for me to be able to show my family and friends what my team and I have accomplished,” senior Diego Perez said.

In addition to this very special night, the Wildcats won their first game of district shortly after celebrating their years as varsity Wildcats.

After just three minutes of the game, Logan Young puts the ball at the back of the net. Throughout the game, the Wildcats were able to keep their lead as well as their composure. With two minutes remaining on the clock, however, a controversial penalty was given against the Wildcats and the game fell into the Wildcats keeper, Noah Wilson’s hands.

The ball is put in the penalty spot, tensions are high, shot is taken and Noah Wilson makes a diving save. The Wildcats secure the win and end this very special night on a 1-0 win.

“The save meant everything to me, especially it being senior night. I think this was a very special night, and I’m glad I got to enjoy it with my team,” senior Noah Wilson said.
