Boys Basketball Hears Final Buzzer

Basketball Season Comes to an End
Boys+Basketball+Hears+Final+Buzzer

Last Tuesday night, the boys basketball team played in their first round playoffs game against the Cypress Ranch Mustangs. The game was back and forth, with both teams having to push through all pain and continue to play old school basketball. The game was forced into overtime after the Wildcats tied up with only a few seconds remaining. Overtime was one for the ages, with both teams basket for basket; but in the end with time expiring, the Mustangs scored one more point. The game ended with a final score of 65-64, moving their final record to 25-10.

“This season was my favorite out of all them; it really felt like I played my best and was living the senior life, not to much stress,” senior Carson Lemmer said. Lemmer, a starter on varsity for the past three years, scored seven points in the matchup against Tomball.

“This team meant so much to me and to see it end makes me sad, but I know that I will not forget this season,” senior Noah Delafosse said. Delafosse broke his leg with the season just beginning, but still showed up to every game to help support his squad.

“I feel like a leader on this team and that changed a lot, while the season ended a little shorter than I would have liked, I am glad I was able to a part of it,” senior Luke Reder said. Reder scored nine points in the game and racked up several assists to help the Wildcats come out with the season sweep against the Cougars.

The Wildcats reached the playoffs the last three consecutive season with a combined record of 78-26. The Cats solidified themselves as not just a powerhouse in a district, but in the Houston area as a whole. While the team loses some players, they also gain many more. With the future hoopers set to come to Tomball Memorial, the future of our basketball team is hoping to have more than just a little navy and silver, but gold around their necks.
